Giamari Annual Arts & Cultural Festivals

GIAMARI hosts a variety of music and arts programmes throughout the year, highlighted by two flagship festivals.

The Giamari International African Arts Festival, held annually in June, is a competitive festival celebrating excellence in Music, Dance, and Public Speaking.

The Giamari Inter-Cultural Festival, held annually in November, is a non-competitive platform dedicated to training, skills development, cultural exchange, collaboration, and the celebration of diverse cultural traditions.

Both festivals are open to local and international participants. Schools, colleges, universities, community groups, and other institutions may participate either physically or virtually, making the festivals accessible to performers and cultural practitioners from around the world.

GIAMARI INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN ARTS FESTIVAL 2027

The Giamari International African Arts Festival is GIAMARI's main annual performing arts competition, held every June. The festival celebrates arts, talent and culture by providing a professional platform for participants to showcase their talent, be guided, and express themselves in Marimba, Singing, Dance, Public Speaking, and Mbira.

Open to schools, colleges, universities, community groups, arts organizations, and individual performers from both Zimbabwe and around the world, the festival encourages growth in music through healthy competition, professional adjudication, and constructive feedback.

Participants have the opportunity to perform before experienced adjudicators, connect with fellow artists, and gain national and international recognition while celebrating the richness and diversity of African performing arts. Institutions may participate either physically or virtually, making the festival accessible to performers across the globe.

Whether you are an emerging performer or an established artist, the Giamari International African Arts Festival is where talent meets opportunity, culture meets creativity, and every performance tells a story.

GIAMARI INTER-CULTURAL FESTIVAL

The Giamari Inter-Cultural Festival is GIAMARI's annual non-competitive cultural exchange programme, held every November. Created to bring together artists, educators, schools, and communities from different cultural backgrounds, the festival promotes learning, collaboration, and mutual appreciation through the performing arts.

Unlike a competition, this festival focuses on cultural exchange, skill development, workshops, masterclasses, collaborative performances, and interactive learning experiences. Participants are encouraged to share their traditions, music, dance, languages, stories, and creative practices while learning from one another in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Open to local and international participants, the festival provides opportunities to build lasting friendships, strengthen global partnerships, and celebrate the diversity that enriches our world. Schools and institutions may attend physically or participate virtually, ensuring that cultural exchange knows no geographical boundaries.
